Course description

This course familiarises students with academic text types and lays the foundations in academic writing and presenting. General focus is on business and economics.

Requirements

Knowledge of English at university entrance level (B2 CEFR)

Examinable components

One written critique (1,200 words)
One 15 minute presentation with ensuing discussion

Formal v informal English
Development of reading skills (applying different reading techniques)
Development of writing skills
Referencing & avoiding plagiarism
Development of oral communication skills (presentations, use of visuals, discussion management, etc.)
