German: Placement test

Who is the test for?
The placement test will take place in person. From level A2 on, it is compulsory for those students of the first part of a course:
  • who have not previously attended a course at our Language Centre
  • who have not successfully completed the second course module of the preceding course

 

Important information:

  • The test is not for students who are currently taking German courses at the Language Centre.
  • The placement test can be repeated after 3 months at the earliest.
  • Existing online test results before the summer semester of 2024 are no longer valid!
How do I prepare (for the placement test?)
  1. Register on  Moodle
  2. Register in the free course DaF | Placement Test
  3. Book an appointment in the course DaF | Placement Test
  4. Read the following information: What is a C-Test?
  5. Watch preparation video.
  6. Take the sample test.

The booking for the placement test appointments opens on 17.03.2026, 9 am.

 

Please note:

    • You have to book one of the dates in the course DaF | Placement Test
    • Bring your student ID or your enrolment certificate and your passport with you to your booked appointment.
    • Have your OVGU account (user name and password) ready.
    • You may not take the placement test without prior appointment booking and preparation.
