Who is the test for?
Beginning in the summer semester 2024, the placement test will only take place in person. From level A2 on, it is compulsory for those students of the first part of a course:
- who have not previously attended a course at the Language Centre
- who have not successfully completed the second course module of the preceding course
Important information: Existing online test results are no longer valid!
How do I prepare (for the placement test?)

- Watch preparation video.
- Take the sample test.
When and where will I be tested?
Date 1: Wednesday, 27 March 2024, 1 - 4 pm, University Computing Centre (RTL 3, building 26.1006)
Date 2: Wednesday, 3 April 2024, 2-5 pm, University Computing Centre (RTL 3+4, building 26.1006 /1007)
Date 3: Thursday, 4 April 2024, 12-3 pm, University Computing Centre (RTL 3+4, building 26.1006 /1007)
Date 4: Wednesday, 10 April 2024, 16-17 pm, University Computing Centre (RTL 3+4, building 26.1006 /1007)
Date 5: Friday, 19.04.2024, 15-16 pm, University Computing Centre (RTL 3+4, Geb. 26.1006 /1007)
Please note:
- Bring your student ID or enrolment certificate with you.
- Have your OVGU account (user name and password) ready.
- You may not take the placement test without preparation.
- The test takes about 45 minutes.
- It is not necessary to register for the test.
- Please allow for waiting times.
